I mean, whats the point of having a FW 800 port and a FW 400 port if I cant run a FW800 device AND a fw 400 device at THE SAME TIME. The FW 800 gets nuetered to FW 400 throughput
Fuck.
I didn;t read the fine print " FW 800 & FW 400 shared". I only saw that when I really looked at the tech spechs because you would think the dick that sold it too me would think this might be relevant info considering what he knew I wanted to do with it.

I haven;t got it yet. Should be in "today". I really wan to send it back and get a MBP pro to PCIe something.

If I cant does anyone have any solutions - I cant see any myself. Whats Apples return policy?

How about an 800 capable multiport device that lets you use a low speed port without compromising the speed? They're there for USB, maybe there's something like that for FW?

Ask for the supervisor's supervisor. They can do anything if you've just barely bought it.

Apple's Return policy involves a really large anal plug. But if you paid for the Extended Warranty, they give you some lube first.

Nope - they wont do anything. Because I ordered it with the 256mg Nvida card its a special order. I kinda did a slightly dodgy thing with work that means I can get a laptop ex-tax. Now I would have waited but had an extremely good pay one month which means i essentially got it for free (nearly - I did work my ass off) - that was two months ago. Now the lappy I want is out so.. I'm fucked I guess.
So I guess the FF800 is out. Guess I'll look at a Metric Halo as my interface. I was gonna get one of those Glyph drives but fuck that now also. O why did I tie myself to Apple when I bought logic/ They were still emagic at the time AND supported PC's. I want a PC now (and a cracked version of OSX!)

First you need the form to talk to the supervisor's supervisor, not the blue one, the red one you get from the supervisor's supervisor's supervisor. It's all so clear, why the problem?

Yeah - I'm hearing you. But as I said at the time Logic supported both platforms. Then Apple came in, dropped support for PC's and around $3000 (aus) later I just cant let it go - third Mac, really cut - missed out on the fairly lary CPU gains of the G5 - now after the Intel transition I'm looking forward to a smoking machine but I fucking hate proprietary environments!!!

excuse me if I'm mac ignorant, but don't most fw devices have two fw sockets so that you can chain them? Thus, maybe there's some way to chain things in the proper order so that you take advantage of the fw800. to put it another way, what are all the fw devices and specs (ie 400 or 800) that you are trying to use?

Daisy chaining FW devices for audio is a big no-no. In theory I suppose it would work but these things tend go wrong at the worst of times. In front of lots of people

Is that the theory? Well strangely enough, I only seem to be able to get my Motu 828 MKII and FW HD drive to work without audio glitches if I chain the drive to the 828. If I run the 828 and HD drive on seperate FW ports I get snaps and pops all over the place even when just playing one stereo track (I am on a PC by the way). Works like a dream when chained.

I've chained a Motu Traveler, a HD and DVD burner on my only FW port, no problems!

hey FORMAT, in what order have you got them all connected? or it doesn't matter? and do you record to your external drive too from the audio interface?
