it's the same as the Roland SPD8 without onboard sounds, so it seems, haven't played/bought one yet. Looks great, USB powered drum fum.

I keep calling Guitar Center about these and they refer me to the SDP8, I mention what I'm looking for is pretty much the same thing that's half the price, they literally grunt and end the conversation every time.

The SPD8 has held it's $400+ price for years. Stores have to clear the old stock of SPD8s too.

Viva la revolucion!

It is much larger, and made to be played with sticks.

i've been drooling over the new controller for awhile now. I could see myself having A LOT of fun, banging away into the night. A padkontrol would be nice too, but there's something to good ol' fashion stick banging that I yearn for a bit more than finger beating... I do lust for a real kit though...

dooh! :? ...guess I just never even thought about using "drumsticks" but I guess I can see the appeal...i'm just used to hammering out drum patterns using a keyboard...lol

That price point is pretty sweet! 199? Not bad at all...

The music Academy I work at carries Alesis and the boss talked to the Alesis rep about this product 2 or 3 weeks ago. He said they were still working on it but could not give an exact date of release. They have been putting this off for 6 months.

I got fed up with waiting and grabed a drumkat off ebay. Little bit more money but solid construction and easy to use.
