Hey all

have any of you tried the new Sony Vaio with 16" screen yet? 1.6 P4, combo drive, available with three different hard drives: 20, 30 and 40...

Thank you

Hi format,

Yes, a coworker has the 1.6GHz model.
The screen is so big it makes you want
to take a dip! (Swimming, I mean.)
I found Live performance on this machine
to be quite good - approximately the same as
a desktop P4 1.6GHz machine. (I didn\'t test
the disk performance, which is usually
determining the number of tracks you can
play back without FX.)

Thank you Yon - what audio interface is your colleague using? Does he run any other sequencers (LOgic....) and with what results? That notebook looks really gorgeous for music-making....

I asked. He is using the built-in audio
hardware. He normally uses Cubase, but
he has been having trouble with it on the
Vaio 316 under windows XP, he tells me.

I\'m curious to know the performance of the
mobile athlon based notebooks. The desktop
athlons outperform the pentium 4 by a fair
margin on the audio applications (mainly Live)
I\'ve tried.

I guess the Athlon vs. Intel topic is mainly to do with their price - Athlons are cheaper but perform equally well.

Thanx for your advice
