The subject line somes up my problem,
My steinberg MI4 isnt listed when i drop down the audio driver menu in Live's preferences. I only see Core Audio and No Driver.
Strangely it does recognise the MI4s midi, and I can see a midi track responding the the signal of the drum machine.
Cubase SL3 seed the audio driver of course, just not ableton live.

Sorry for bumping, but I'm really stuck on this and its basically rendering my entire hardware interface/investment useless. HAs anyone had a problem like this? Were ableton just doesnt see there hardware drivers? Hope you can help. Thanks,

I got this below from the Cubase help which might help further explain things. Am I understanding this wrong, like does cubase handle it differently then ableton would, and maybe ableton doesnt use the steiberg MI4 driver? Also Whats weird is that Ableton sees the MIDI from the steinberg, it just doesnt see the driver.

Master ASIO Driver

An ASIO (Audio Stream Input Output) driver is a piece of software that allows a program to communicate with a certain piece of hardware. In this case, the driver allows Cubase SX/SL to use the audio hardware.

Mac

The following options are supported:

• Mac OS X (CoreAudio) drivers.
These are drivers that allow the hardware to communicate with Mac OS X, and therefore with Cubase SX/SL. Basically, if an audio interface works under Mac OS X, it can be used with Cubase SX/SL.
• Built-in audio controller.
This is the built-in audio hardware of the Macintosh. Depending on your preferences and requirements, this may be sufficient for use with Cubase SX/SL (although we recommend using multi-output audio hardware). Note though, that some Macintosh models have audio outputs but no inputs, meaning that you can play back audio but not record with the built-in audio hardware.
• ASIO drivers.
These drivers use Steinberg's ASIO protocol, which may provide special support for synchronization, routing, etc. (depending on the hardware and the drivers). Note that the ASIO drivers must be written specifically for Mac OS X - Mac OS 9.X ASIO drivers cannot be used.
