Ableton Input problem - Please help!

Please help -

I have tried searching the Ableton forum, posting, and troubleshooting my problem in all the manuals, etc. I am using Ableton 3.0.4, and have never had a problem using the 'Live Input' to record from an external sound source, until now. I am getting both the external source plus my other track loops, as if I'd selected 'Live In' and 'Master Out' simultaneously!

The only thing I've started to wonder is if maybe Reason 3 has created some kind of conflict, as I've pretty recently installed it and and Rewired it into Live, with success.

Any help would be appreciated. I just want to get back to recording external parts again!

Thanks so much,

Don

i would suspect some monitoring option in your soundcard settings, or something like that?

I should clarify I am using the internal soundcard on my laptop, and have physically disconnected the output so there's no possibility of a feedback loop being routed through an external mixer and back into my laptop. So, my loop tracks are coming thru 'Live In' internally within Live's routing itself!

I have not made any changes to preferences, and since I only have one in/out, I can't think of any change I could make that would route audio in this way.

can you test it with another application?

Ummm, not sure what you mean. The input problem is native to Ableton Live, as I'm getting both my session loops and an external synth source being monitored when I select the "Live In" setting to a track. No problem getting an external source - just how do I get rid of my session loops also in the input mix?

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
