knowing how good their synth emulations sound, i guess this one will be nice too.
though, i must admit that the specs and look aren't that attractive.
but well, it's more about the emulation...
the mp3s sound good, esp the drive/PCF one.

It's a start
The drum machine wont be limited to 1 algorithm.
It comes with 2, but more could possibly be added in the future.
I know it's on my list.

I wish he would get on with the mac beta of ABL 2 :D

Listened o the demo, sounds a bit crappy imo.
The snare sounds static, sample?
the clap sounds static but contains a chorus.... :?:
The whole feel of the 808 sequencer has not been coded within the plugin?
Where are the sub freqs of the kick?

As far as my ears can judge, u are better of with a good sample kit.

Btw the d16 group is coding one too.
Hope that one sounds better.
They just did a 909 emu.

The synth is not sample based.
That would be illegal if i'm correct.
You cant use roland samples in a plugin and sell it as drum machine...

Hmmm first of all, i dunno why i quoted myself :D
Can someone delete it?

Hoffman, its strange if u listen to the snare, its sounds really static.
As the rest of the instruments are static too.
A real 808 doesn't.

Btw maybe they licensed samples? like propellorheads did with rebirth?

Don't know if u listened to drumazon by d16, but they did the 909 version.
The 909 has samples also, like the hats cymbal crash...
How are they gonna coop with roland?

It isn't a real 808 and it isn't a 100% emulation.
If it sounded exactly like an 808, then audiorealism might as well have made a rompler...
And keep in mind. It's still being developed.
The end result of this product will depend on the feedback that is received during the beta test.

With a forum full of acid freaks, you can be sure that objections will be raised if needed.

And last but not least....
If you dissect the name "AudioRealism", you might get a clue what the eventual goal for all the products is

Yeah. I'm aware of drumazon.
I dunno if they use samples. could be though.
To emulate a 909 you need some rom samples that are used in the original device. So they must have licensed those from roland.
They'll never be able to sell it under a slogan like "the new 909" though ;)

I don't like the company to be honest.
They cant even correspond in proper english. If they cant emulate that...
Their website is full of typo's. Doesn't bode very well for their code.
And they make way too much use of phrases such as "state of the art", "The filter sounds phenomenal! Hear that squelch and you’ll swear its analogue!", .....

Here's my favorite: "Diehard fans of the original Bass Line will be blown away with PHOSCYON’s uncanny emulation of the classic, but will also marvel at the ease with which new sounds can be crafted; sounds which were not possible on the original."

In other words, it almost sounds the same. In an uncanny kind of way

Anyway, getting sidetracked here...

Most drum machines need roms.
I think that the 808 is one of the few that doesn't use roms.
I could be wrong though.

The digital one's are roms, the only analoge one that uses roms within is the 909.

About that proper english on their site i can't judge, because met english sucks more :D

I can read the part "it almost sounds the same " though :D
But not only d16 will say that about their emu's.)

For me i am lucky to own the real stuff, tried to sample it even, but does not cut it.

To me it's the small advantages.
A real 303 sounds better then ABL.
But you can run multiple instances of ABL

Thrue, ghehe
For me there is just one golden rule, and that is in the end of the chain, the sound.

If i want more instances of a real 303, ill just multitrack :D
