828 MK2 Noise...others experiencing this?

Hello all
I installed Live 6 on my G5 1.8/2GB Ram the other day. played with it a bit, checked plugin issues, all good.

Few days later a client comes in and we are tracking her vocals. 828 connected to tower, 2 firewire drives connected to 828. Part way through a take, we get a squeel and all sound drops out for about 2 seconds.

"What was that?" Asks client?
Good question? Check playback, and unforunately it was on the track, squeel and drop out. Tried a few more time with more and more disbelief from the vocalist. That "We aren't on the clock here are we?" kinda look.

I fired up Digital Performer and made it through the session, but would have preferred Live.

Any of you having similar issues? This has never happened before, and am not sure why it is happening now. All I can think of is that the 2 firewire drives were over taxing the bus, or something is not right with the MOTU/Ableton mix?

Help please?

the only time i ever had behaviour like that from mine, was when i was trying to use my digital I/O's on my MOTU. I've never gotten them to work right.

I've had it a few times in the past while during playback (I don't record that often). No idea what it is with mine sadly. I sent MOTU tech supp an email yesterday in fact but no reply as yet...

I've also experienced this with my Traveler....

I looked into it on the UnicorNation forum and found some posts about it.
Someone on the forum said that the solution for them was to set Optical Output to ADAT in the MOTU Firewire Console, even though you may not be using that output (I'm not).

Not sure if that will help or not.
