Ableton Rewired = abit rubbish ??

So i have a project in ableton which i want to rewire into logic so i can mix it down properly. but whenever i run ableton in rewire mode it disables all of its plugins ["unfortunatley plugins are deactivated when running live as a rewire slave"] which means none of the channels with vst/au instruments work meaning i obviously cant rewire any of those tracks into logic...

so basically rewire in ableton is pretty pointless unless im doing something wrong ??

any suggested ways of getting round this problem ?

if you're using a Live plug-in like Operator but haven't bought it yet, Live runs in demo mode.

Only LIVE's own plugs&Instruments work in rewire mode, you'll have to Bounce tracks with any non-Abe Plugins in LIVE before you Launch logic. A Pain in the ass it is.
(i used to do it this way but I can't be botherd with Logic anymore and just do everything in LIVE)

nah what i mean is :

im running third party plugins such as battery, albino etc but they are instantly deactivated as soon as you put ableton in rewire mode. this basically makes the rewire function completley useless to me [and im sure thousands of others]

i dont want to mix my tracks in ableton, i wanted to use it so i could create my tracks in it and then rewire it to something like logic which im much more comfortable mixing in.

would it work if i froze the tracks beforehand ? or would i have to bounce to audio the traditional way and then load them onto an audio channel ?

if so i may as well just bounce them and load them into logic...

bahhhh...i spent all this money on ableton and i cant even rewire the thing propely :x

I think only the Rewire Master can Host third party Plugins, give freezing a go tho. I reckon you could get used to mixing just in Live, took me awhile but I don't miss Logic anymore.

Altair, which version are you using?

im using version 6.

to be honest i really dont want to switch over to ableton for mixing, im completley at home with logic, the automation [which i rely on heavily] absolutley annialates abletons and i dont think i could bring myself to leave my most loved program ever

You're right, Rewire is utterly useless when trying to work with two "DAWS". A complete waste of time because Vst's can only run in one host at a time- what the hell good is that? Sure you can render each track to individual files but what if you wanna tweak something back in Live? You practcally have to go back and start again from scratch. Nice way to chew up and fragment your HD.

I think that is a limitation of Rewire and not Live in particular? However, Freezing the tracks was a good idea that might work.

Can you rewire Logic into Live so the VSTs work in Live? What about running the VSTs in Logic and running the midi from Live to Logic? I think another thing freezing tracks would do is simplify your world. Do your Live thing, get what you need, then go into Logic, keep it simple.

Logic only works as a rewire master I think. It's daft really, by now you should be able to do all this stuff over something like rewire. ie. multiple Vst hosts, stream audio to and from Apps (not just one way)....you know... :x

Couple of alternative ways to stream audio between apps:

http://jackaudio.org/

http://www.grame.fr/~letz/jackdmp.html
