IF IT DOESN'T PITCH SHIFT/TIME-STRETCH, THEN ARENT ALL OF MY SAMPLES GOING TO SPEED UP AS i MOVE HIGHER UP THE KEY? THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM I HAD WITH SIMPLER. I CAN'T FIND A USE FOR IT IF ITS ALWAYS OUT OF TIME. eVEN IF I SET WARP MARKERS AND THEN DRAG THE CLIP IN AND HIT A D5, IT WILL SOUND LIKE A CHIP MUNK AND LAST TWO SECONDS, IF I HIT A D-2 IT WILL SOUND LIKE A TIRE DEFLATING FOR 20 SECONDS, AND C-3 SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE THE CLIP. IN ESSENCE THE SAMPLER IS JUST SIMPLER WITH MULTIPLE ZONES (OR I COULD USE 5 SIMPLERS).
oR DO I HAVE THE WRONG IDEA HERE? I HAVE A FEELING MAYBE I'M NOT USING IT RIGHT. i TOOK A NICE LITTLE SAMPLE FROM PETER AND THE WOLF. PUT IT INTO SAMPLER SO I COULD PLAY THE VIOLIN/TIPANI HIT ACROSS THE RANGE OF THE KEYS BUT IT SOUNDS TERRIBLE. NOT ONLY THAT BUT CHANGING THE ROOT KEY JUST MEANS THE SAMPLE WILL ONLY SOUND DESCENT ON c-2 INSTEAD OF c-3. PLEASE HELP

You are correct. Neither Simpler nor Sampler time stretches.

Live itself can be used as a fantastic sampler and does time stretching.

first if you want help, you'd better remove caps lock when you're typing, it is seen as if you were shouting.

now in sampler, there is a box in the "Sample" tab, called "Scale". set it to 0%, your sample will sound the same all accross your keyboard.

sampler doesn't do timestretching, but you can achieve it with the modulation.

there's many uses for Simpler/Sampler or any sampler for that matter. The actual Peter sample in question is really not the best choice for spreading across the entire keyboard. But let's say you take a sample of an organ from a scratchy record, just a steady single note sample. You can load it in Simpler, loop it so that the sound holds as long as you keep the key pressed. Add some envelopes to make the sound more natural, and voila! you have a brand new "synth" sound to play with.
That's mainly what I do with Simpler, load and loop samples of whatever works to make synths or musical textures
