Very basic recording question

Hi,
I'm trying to record drum loops and vocals with Live 5.22 on a PC with M-Audio Ozone interface. I have no problems looping/warping/editing my drum loops but am having major problems regarding layered/multi-track recording.
In session view I drag my loops onto an audio track, arm session recording button next to the volume slider then click the clip launch button where my drum loop is.
Do I have to arm the session record plus the clip launch button plus the global record button to lay down tracks in arrangement view? I want to be able to record things in session view and be able to edit it later in arrangement view..
I guess what I' asking is-what is the best method to record/edit audio---should I do it all in arrangement view?
If anyone could point me towards some info clarifying the recording process I would be much obliged.

Thanks

Seems to me that recording is easier for most things in session. I only record in arrange when I'm recording a long part against an existing arrangement.
I'm sure there are people that never use session view for anything, but that's what I've ended up doing.
I think this is one of those things you just gotta work out what complements your brain activity best.

The track arm button is one and the same for Session and Arrange.

However, nothing will be recorded to Arrange unless the global REC is active.

Even if you record in Session, you can later record those clips into Arrange by using the global REC and playing the session clips./

Thanks for the responses.
I was getting confused as the stuff I recorded in Session View didn't seem to be visibly recording anywhere, unless I hit the global record button.
So I can record in Session View, without laying down visible tracks in Arrangement view---but can these recordings be edited/modified---or is all cutting and pasting done in Arrangement view?
And clips recorded in Session View (are they visible anywhere?) can be recorded into Arrangement View at a later time?
Determined to understand these concepts, and again, appreciate the help!

You can edit them in the "Clip view" at the bottom.

You can just drag clips from Session to Arrangement or they will get recorded into Arrange as triggered in Session with the global record button on.

It's hard (esp. w/Ableton!) to not just jump in and start working, but now that you're hooked, a little RTFM is definately in order!

You're right, I need to burrow in and spend some serious time with the software.
But those few tips were a big help to me, could'nt get past that one stumbling block.
thanx much
