so, what do you guys recommend to use with Ableton Live 6?

- Korg padKONTROL

- AKAI MPD 24

- M-Audio Trigger Finge

Depends what you want to use it for. I've got a padKontrol but I find I'm using my keyboard controller more often as it has more control knobs/faders. The MPD24 has more control, but apparently the pad's don't feel as good as the Korg. And some swear by the trigger finger, but I've never used one.

if u get one for the sake of ease(based on the facct phat conductor is selling a automap.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JH1Ko630Ytc , chek the video for it....its pretty much to control live with a trigger finger (4 facers and i believe 6 to 8 rotary knobs.)) i would get the mpd 244(never used on tho, just basing it off of thiss template he made) because you have the ability to use all the assigned faders and knobs for the triggerfinger automap, plus the mpd24 has 2 extra faders and i think 2 extra knobs(you could add more assignments to the template)

I've been looking into getting an MPD 24. I've seen two pictures of it. In one, it looks like it is a light grey colour - looks kinda weak. But in the other, it is a darker silver, and it looks great.

Have I been the victim of dodgy product photos???

Whilst we're on the subject, what do people think of Behringer B-Controlers?

Akai MPD24 is great. Supports 30 patches with 4 pad banks each, sends aftertouch, the rotary knobs are solid (the faders are, well, faders). It has a nice, solid feel to it and looks clean. The pads are totally tweakable, and the velocity curves and sensitivity are easy to set. The Korg has some interesting features, but for me the akai won out.

I would either get the korg or the alesis pad control, which is slightly different than the rest... need drum sticks!

question:

how do you guys who use a pad controller for tapping in beats? in production

I have thought about it for ages for adding my own percussion to tracks, but have been warned they are useless for this as the latency is too great to be able to jam in realtime with your tracks?

is this tru?

what do you use and how do you get around the latency? this is in reference to adding stuff to your production, not live performance

the latency can be gotten around as long as its less than 20ms..............

and you can work wonders with this level of latency as long as you have the sounddriver from asio4all.com

I use the trigger finger and it does everything i want. some people say the pads are too hard and dont register if u hit them on the corners *shrug* no problems here tho i actually like how the pads are on the TF cuz the sliders/knobs are off to the side and dont get in your way when your finger jamming (i like to tilt mine to the side for better control) but all n all i think you would be satisfied with any one of the three...my 2cent
