ableton 6 on a p4 machine

Hey guys,

I'm thinking about running ableton 6 on my p4 2.8ghz notebook with a gig ram 100 gig hd.

Do you think it wouldn't be underpowered? I plan to use Live just for DJ use and not for production. Mainly for playing out in clubs. I plan to reformat the whole hard disk and just install ableton on it, keeping the notebook solely for live performances.

Would the P4 machine fail me in the live department being an old machine?

Any P4 users who could shed light on this?:?:

Thanks!

Yeah still on a 3.2 ghz p4 here with Hyperthreading off. I can push it pretty hard, even under 4ms latency. Djing should be fine -- just test it out with all the effects/tracks you plan to use.

dell desktop p4 2.4 ghz here w/768 ram two 80gig hard drives and one 20 gig. Live 6 runs decent to a point, then I have to start freezing and dragging tracks. I would upgrade it, but I would rather put the money toward a macbook in the very near future, and keep my desktop for normal home/office use.

Thats my status too.

Live 6 lets me get more out of 1.5ghz = i can save for real monster macbookpro.
