Bringing a song using VST's to a Mac using Audio Units

Hi, I originally asked this question here. But I've just realised something which is probably complicating matters further, and I wonder if anyone here has had experience with the matter.
Some of my live songs were written last year when I used to use a Windows PC and the plugins were VST's.
I now have a mac, and not a PC and i've cross-graded all my plugin's to their respective Audio Units.
But if I try to load a song which I had written when I had a windows PC live says for each plugin used for example... "Failed to load VST "Absynth 3." The VST Plug-in could not be located. Please check your File/Folder Preferences."
It doesn't give me a chance to say "hey, it's now an Audio Unit" And I can't swap the plug-in whilst retaining the plugin's settings.
Has anyone managed to do such a thing?
