sample rate problem

I was working on a project in 48k and I went to open the set this morning and all of the samples got saved as 44.1 and they are all now slow and detuned! I'm not sure how this happened, but is there anyway to fix this. I've tried simply resaving them as 48k in wavelab but that doesn't change anything. I really hate to lose hours worth of work. Also any ideas on where I went wrong would be appreciated. My setup is as follows:
Live 5
P4 2.6ghz
toneport ux2
firepod synced via sdif to ux2 (both set to 48k 24bit).
The only thing I can think of is that I was using the gearbox software, the one that controls the toneport, to also control my podxt live. I just noticed that the driver for the xtlive was set to 44.1 BUT, I didn't use the xtlive as a sound card. I had the physical outputs running to the firepod. And the firepod is only connected to the toneport via sdif and should in no way be affected by the xtlive. I'm stumped here.
