Academic Pricing and Upgrades from 3.0

Hi there
I'm currently a Live 3.0 Box user and am trying to upgrade to 6.0 Box with Academic Pricing. The issue that I am having, is the only available upgrade at the various academic software sites is for Live 5.0 -> 6.0. They generally state "you must have Live 5.0"
Where/how can I acquire the Academic upgrade to 6.0 without the included EIC?
