Why does Live automatically assign (wrong) warp markers?

I'm confused by an aspect of Live's behavior (Live 6 on a Mac): If I bring in a song-lengthed clip for remixing or tempo matching purposes, at first the clip is unwarped -- which is fine. But then when I hit the "warp" button in the clip view, Live sometimes (but not always) assigns warp markers to the clip, and almost invariably, these markers are in the wrong place.

I then have to go through the additional tedious step of deleting all the warp markers, one by one (...is there a way to delete all of them and start fresh?...).

What I want is just the first warp marker to be there, so that I can slide it over to beat 1, and then adjust the tempo or assign other warp markers until the clip is properly warped.

I can't tell if I'm doing something wrong or overlooking something. (BTW, "Auto Warp long samples" is OFF in the preferences).

Thanks.

Live is just using an algorithm to guess what you want.
I find the guesses almost always a good starting point at least.

You may want to search the forum, there are many discussions of how to best warp long clips and pointers to outside resources regarding the same.

To delete multiple clips, see section 9.2.2 of the manual.

to remove all the markers, just unclick or turn off warp. then right click on the wave, select "warp 1.1.1 straight" or something like that (you'll see it). this will only add one marker at 1.1.1. of course you'll just have to move that 1.1.1 marker to where you want the song to start, line up the grid, and then add other markers to taste.
