Can anyone tell me if upgrading to Live 6 will help the performance of Live on my 12" Mac Powerbook G4? It's a 1.5ghz G4 processor with 1.25gb of ram. Lately I've been running Battery 3 and it's been choking a bit here and there. I was thinking of upgrading to a MacBook but had a good look at them today at Circuit City and determined that the build quality of those things is a bit chintzy. That's very dissapointing to me as I love OSX but my PB feels so much more solid. Unfortunately my RAM is maxed out or I would go that route. So, will the new deep freeze functions, etc. help my PB's performance. thanks!!
cheers

You can download the demo of Live 6 and try it out for yourself. I personally don't notice much of a difference between the two on my old Mac mini G4 1.42GHz. I don't use battery, however.

i definately felt that 6 worked more fludidly and felt faster than 5 to me on my 1.67 15in 2g ram PB. It could be just an impression though, but that's how it felt.

Yes, the freeze function will help a lot.
If you can buy a macbook or pro then you will see beter performance.
G4 machines are good but not that fast to run Live. And ableton never optimized Live for Altivec that G4 uses.

The mac rumors sites are predicting the info/launch of a NEW 12' MacbookPro in SanFran Macworld 2007, with FlashRAM.
So i will wait for that info.
I have a PowerBook 15' 1.25ghz 500RAM
LIVE-6 is the BEST for exactly what you are after.
I got it and now i can calmy approach the aquisition of my new laptop
instead of itching and tweaking like a crackhead whenever
i see someones sig with nice specs about their MacbookPro.
Also saved me from getting a core duo instead of core 2 duo !
