session as a sampler

i am trying to use the session view as a sampler.
imported about 14 shrot clips (snare and bass samples)
i mapped a midi note to each of the clips.
made a midi track to sent out to the iac.
my assumption was that i could do this without any problem. when i play the midi file, my cpu monitor shoots up to 97%, ableton freezes for 5 seconds, then the clip mapped to the first note loops.
is the iac not SUPPOSED to take up too much processor? has able 6 been acting up with the iac?
i know its difficult to find the source of the problem wihtout examining my set up, but any help is apreciated.

just to double check, i tried the same thing in able 5. it works perfectly. iac is not the problem. does anyone know of this as a prob in able 6? i have 6.0
not 6.0.1
are they not the same thing?

i tried 6.0.1, that is not the fix.
more and more research:
the problem seems to be with ableton's abitlity to recieve trigger data from any midi source, and keystroke triggers. the iac, triggerfinger, midi keyboard, and computer keyboard all illicit the same response. ableton freezes for 4 seconds, the cpu meter shoots to 400%, and the first track triggered in the sequence is looped.
if is anyone else having this problem?!!
would a hard-drive wipe solve this?
can anyone say they dont have any midi or iac problems with ableton 6?

funny you should bring this up. I just ran into this on friday. I was reading through the phat conductors midi beat juggling tutorial and could not get clip triggers to work through the iac. I gave up pretty quickly but I will do more detailed testing tomorrow and let you know what I find. In any case the symptoms I was seeing are exactly what you describe...

I noticed the same thing with Live 6 and midiyoke on pc.
I think L6 has issues with midi loopbacks of all types.
Bummer

fwiw 6.0.3 still exhibits the issue.
so it doen't work with external gear? save me digging my aging midi keyboard out the shed then (not that that's a solution for me).

Just to double-check:
Have you made sure that for the IAC Bus you are using, solely
'Remote' is selected for the
Input and solely
'Track' is selected for the
Output in Live's preferences?
Otherwise you could get a MIDI feedback loop in certain situations, which might cause the freeze.

I wouldn't say 'no MIDI problems' (see several threads on MIDI recording latency), but using MIDI clips for remote control via IAC works flawlessly on both my systems.

no,
in 5, both could be selected, so when i got 6, i selected both remote and track for the input and the output.
however, thanks to leonard's threads and people responding on them, i discovered i had an incorrect configuration in preferences.
i was pissing myself from aggrivation for about half a month. now i need a new carpet, but i gots my ableton working.
