Hello, I want to use Ableton Live for a live dj set.
What I have need for being able to make this?

Exscuse me for my bad english, but I'm Italian.

warp songs so they play in time with each other, get a collection going. warping songs takes practice but gets easier.

get a controller, I use the Behringer BCR2000, it's cheap and very configurable. People also use FADERFOX products, the UC33e, Novation Remote SL, Behringer BCF2000, you could even just do it with the computer keyboard.

set up the controller to control EQs and volumes for your tracks, and have the ability to launch clips (hit midi learn and look for the buttons that pop up above the tracks.)

play with it a while and come up with a setup that works for YOU, everyone is different.

That should give you enough to do for a few weeks or months.

ALWAYS LEAVE THE HELP BOX OPEN (LOWER LEFT CORNER OF THE LIVE SCREEN) AS YOU LEARN LIVE, IT'S A GREAT RESOURCE. The manual is also a quick read.

Should I take an audio external interface for the pre-listening?
If I take a Behringer BCR2000 can I use a laptop with Windows?
Does to connect the speaker, need a mixer for dj? And as I have to do for connecting it?

Sorry, I forget the sound card.

If you get a sound card that has 2 separate stereo outputs then you can make one of them go to the speakers and send another one to your headphones. This is an example:

No DJ mixer is needed.

All of these devices (controllers and sound cards) work with laptops. The BCR is connected with USB.

-Controller MIDI: Behringer BCR2000 160$
-Soundcard: Echo Indigo Dj 160$

=320$

But since I am Italian, I convert in Euro:

-controller: 139€
-soundcard: 199€

That is some good info. My question is. How do you listen to the next track without it playing live over the sound system.

you cue the other song on a seperate channel of your soundcard or your mixer over the headphones

That can get you started, please make sure the sound card specs meet what your laptop needs, such as the card bus.


To hear what you're playing next:
to listen from the browser:
go to the box below the CUE knob (right side of Live), in that box select a different output than what the MASTER volume is going to, plug your headphones into that output. Select EXT, if another output isn't there, select 'configure' to enable an output in the preferences.

to listen to a track:
on the track's OUTPUT, do the same, set the output to something other than the output that the main is set to.

Perhaps, I have understood.
But once that I pre-listen the song, how I can stop the song?
