What's the best audio interface for under $300? I need at least 4 ins and 4 outs. Is there even anything of nice quality for that price range? I am running XP.
Thanks.

Sorry, out of luck there.

I checked out the firebox. Looks like what I'm looking for. I am planning on using it with my existing setup(pc) and using it when I transfer to a macbook(hopefully around tax time).

I have a limited budget right now ($300), unlike some peeps, but need something now. I don't need much more than something like the firebox due to my very simple set up. When my gear ratio increases in the future, then I will step up to something in line with those needs, but for right now I need a quick and practical solution for my flow. Thanks. :)

Speaking as someone that has owned both the firebox and several defective 410's, I'd have to say to put your money in the presonus camp...

That's not the first negative that I've heard about the 410.

i agree for the money, it's a great soundcard.

even it doesn't firewire buspowered start anymore on macbook pros [and i believe on macbooks as well] if this doesn't bother you to alweays use a powersupply, then go for it, it sounds astounding and has enough features for a card under 300 dollar.
