Trying to control everything total with midi... why can´t I?

so... I am trying to control, for examble, the global volume with just a foot swich, I thougt "...well, if I send the controller 7 (volume) from a clip, and then I send again that order inside the live6 it will work!".
efecctively it works, the main volume goes down, but automatically the midi activity leds (up in the right corner) go lighted and extrange things comences to happen in my set.
is this because it can not be done?
does anybody knows how to make it other way (I mean, how to send the midi from a clip again in to live6 in order to control so many things thru the envelopes)?
