Live 6.03 bug ? - sample could not be read

Now, this may sound strange: some of the samples in the Live Library / Waveforms / Drum folder will not load in 6.0.3, generating the message:
"the sample xxx could not be read (it may be corrupt)"
They load just fine in 6.0.1 !!
Examples: E-Kick 5, 6 , 7 & 8.
Does anybody have the same problem / a clue what could be causing this ?
Happy holidays!

I had exactly the same thing happen to me today.
Same samples too (E-Kick 5, 6 , 7 & 8 ). So i opened up Live 6.0 and there is no problem. They play fine in mediaplayer/winamp etc.
I even uninstalled 6.0.3, ran Reg mech etc, and reinstalled it and still the same problem??????
What the #@*! is that all about.
I think we should PM Abes admin. about this.......

Hi,
I can confirm this behavior with the files "E-Kick 5", "E-Kick 6", "E-Kick 7", "E-Kick 8" & "E-Vox Kick 1" but on a Mac only. Are you both on a Mac too?
Regards,
/Alex

Hi Alex (you madman! replying on X-mas

)
Nope, I am on PC. There a (just a few) more samples unreadable.
What I have personally found out'in the meantime: my library was f@#$'ed up during the upgrade, therefore I have these samples in the 'new' (library / samples / waveforms / drums)
as well as in the 'old' folder (library / waveforms / drums ) in my PC. Its just the 'old' ones that are unreadable by Live, those from the new folder cause no problem.

I had this too. It was easier to just find a new sample since they're just drums, but I will freak out if it happens to something important.

I've had this too, didn't take note of exactly which samples but I was loading a preset impulse setup and it was the kick sample. I'm on mac and I deleted the old library before installing 6.0.3.

Just to confirm its happening on my PC too.
I get a message:
"This file does not appear to be a valid wav file"
It seems to refer to E-Kick 6, E Snare 7 and others.
I have just e-mailed support about this.

An update on this.
I just installed the Live 5 compatibility pack and the Impulse pack from the download section on this site. It asked if I wanted to overwrite a load of files, so I clicked 'yes'.
Now I don't get the message anymore about dead wav files and all the midiclips load OK.
But... now I get a different message when I try to open old Live 5 sets that used the very same samples but stored in the old self contained folder:
"Some of the samples used by the set could not be loaded"
Replacing the samples with ones in the Live 6 library made it all work again.
Very odd.

For whom this issue occurs:
Could you try to rename the files from .wav to .aif in the Finder?
They should load then.

Thanx Christian, but afaik you can only change the name, not the extension in the finder ?
Also: other files that have .wav extension play ok

Hello Friedrich,
There“s no problem with changing the suffix in the Finder. Did you try to name these specific files from .wav to .aif?

I have the same problem.
When I load a set from Live 6 into Live 603, I get the sample error. These are samples in the Imported folder. Weird!
Some of my samples were aiff and had problems.
I opened them in Sound Forge and saved them as wav and then loaded them...and they work.
This is a bad bug because even the sample Explorer does not show any error or missing sample or anything, so locating the erro is an issue too.
Abes, please fix this asap.
One piece of info. that might help is that all these samples seem to be in Sampler.
