Serious problem

Ok, so here's the deal:

What I have is a behringer mixer board, and using Live 6. What I'm trying to do is input and instrument in one of the channels, and have some effects added on, and then have it come out, all streaming live. I'm able to get it to go in, get the effect to work, and get it to leave through the audio output of my laptop. But the problem is there is a large delay from what I'm playing and what is actually coming out. I'll play a note, and it'll register about half a second later, making it impossible to play with other musicians. I've lowered the track delay as much as it will go, as well as tried to lower the input settings to try and match, but nothing seems to work. It has nothing to do with the effect I'm using as it happens when I'm just playing it clean. What I need to know is does it have something to do with my hardware which I'm praying it isn't, or is there a setting I can adjust so that it clears up the delay problem. I've read the forums, and have tried all the different routes, but nothing is coming up. If I lower the buffer too much it just becomes too distorted. As well, I tried the asio4all, but I may be using it incorrectly. Please please, any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated

There is a lesson included in Live that explains you how to calculate and setup latency.

There is no simple answer to this. You'll have to learn it if you want an accurate setup.

Wow, thank you. I didn't even know about the built in tutorials  I'll give it a shot. Thanks again.
