Midi pickup incomplete feature?

Hi everyone!
I was hoping to take a full advantage of midi controllers 'pick-up' feature but...
It seems to be working only once at the beginning or after I use mouse. But my main idea was to assign all knobs on my UC-33 controller to channel 1 in preset 1 and to channel 2 in preset 2 and so on. Then I could assign all channel 1 knobs to tracks controls, all channel 2 knobs to different devices controls etc. But once a controller is picked up, pickup feature does not work anymore (unless mouse was used). I mean if I set for example Send A level to maximum by turning one knob ot the right, then change UC-33 preset and change a pan turning the same knob to the left and then go back to previous preset and touch that knob - Send A level jumps to the current knob position without pick-up. So I am not sure is it a bug or feature not well thought thru or I myself doing something wrong? Anyway, it would be great if controllers could be picked up continuously.
