Ugh, I feel dumb for posting this question about Beast ....

I still learning how to use Ableton, but I cannot find anything in the forums to answer my question. Just wanted to get that out of the way ;)

Now, I have added reFX Beast to my plugin choices. I drop Beast into a Midi channel, and then arm it. Then I hit my PC keyboard (keys a, s and d mostly) to check out the sound of the default settings, and nuthin. I can see Ableton is getting the keystroke, but it's like the synth is turned off or something. I checked the Beast manual, and that was no help at all. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong here?

Also, I'm able to use Operator and JunoX2 just fine. Beast is the only synth so far that's giving me fits. Gah! I should be able to figure this one out ... but I suck :(

Thanks!
Rekd

Not sure what you mean by that. I can use the same Midi track, not change a single setting, drop JunoX2 and hear everything just fine .... ?

its a vst instrument or an effect?

if its an effect you need to run a sound through it

if its an instrument it seems like it should be working

it's a VST, and I'm about ready to pull my hair out. Every softsynth I try works just fine. Beast is the only exception. Is there somekind of "power" button in the GUI?!?! Something that I'm missing?? Do I have to somehow enable the Oscillators??? Gah ....

Open up the audio i/o thing if it's not already open, and make sure "midi input" is set to "computer keyboard."
Then make sure "monitor" is set to on, or the recording button is armed.
Play away.

I have Beast (and Claw) but I don't think I've tried them with Live yet., I'll give it them try when I can and report back (if someone else hasn't solved the problem by then).
