I am finding that if I try to use Reason as a ReWire slave triggering sound modules in Reason with MIDI from Live and I have Multicore/Multiprocessor support On that the MIDI notes are not making it to Reason or Reason is interpreting them incorrectly. The MIDI performance devolves into a collection of out of time or stuck notes. If I turn off Muticore/Multiprocessor support things are fine.

I have tried different and matched plug-in buffer sizes. Multicore/Multiprocessor ReWire support is grayed out and inactive.

I am running Win XP SP 2 with all of the current MS updates. This is an AMD 64 X2 4400+ with the AMD CPU optimizer and the XP dual core hot fix installed. The is an ASUS A8 V Deluxe MOBO with a VIA K8T800 Pro chipset. The audio interface is a Digidesign 002. Rewire is functioning normally with the other DAW software and Reason.

Is anyone else with the same software combination experiencing the same issue?

I'm having the same issue, but with the Demo of Ableton, and Reason 3.0/

i'm having the same-ish problem with osx. it looks like it's a problem with live across the board.

I recently installed live lite 6.0.3 and reason 3 on my macbook core 2 duo, and had some serious rewire issues. You actually have reason talking to live? Because I found that I had to upgrade to reason 3.5 in order to get the two to talk. I don't know if it also applies in windows, but I would imagine that it could, especially because 2.5 was made before the advent of dual cores. After that upgrade, all was well. I would suggest the 3.5 upgrade anyway because it has better support for the core 2 duo CPU's. Either way, I think you could fix your problem with the upgrade.

Reason 2.5 and Live 6.0.3 work great on my win xp sp2 lappy, rewiring audio or midi is no problem at all.... but I do not own a dual core processor, (P4 3.2 Ghz desktop baby in my lappy) and as H/T is not supported by Live that's disabled in bios. Maybe dual core implementation is not quite tweaked right for rewire yet??

i think there's a lot of things not working right for dual core processors with ableton, especially when it comes to the macs...

I have updated my ReWire version to 1.7 and I just tried version 6.0.5 to see if this problem has been corrected and it has not. I e-mailed supported and was asked to update to version 3.x of Reason but I don't need the added functionality and they didn't seem too sure that this would resolve the issue. Does anyone out there have Reason and Live working properly on an AMD X2 processor with multi-core supported enabled? If so let me know so I can justify the cost of the upgrade.

that is a very tricky one: I had it at home on one of my machines, so happily I thought we could reproduce it, but on none of our working machine it happened. Now I have re-installed my whole sytem on the machine where it used to happen, and rewire is working fine.

So, my guess is that there is some interaction with other softwares installed that make Rewire not working well.

What couls be helpfull is if you could list other music programs you have installed on you machines, so we can investigate if there is something common amongst all systems.

Here is the deal. I have way to much stuff on this box to provide you with a list. I have a little downtime today so I am ghosting the system so that I have a complete backup. I am going to wipe it, reinstall XP an all current updates, install Reason, and Live 6.0.5 and let you know what happens. What kind of processor did the PC you were having problems with use? Was it an AMD X2? Didi you install the hit fix for it? I'll let you know what happens on a clean system. If I have problems I'll re-post the specs and exactly what I have installed.

The machine was a PC Intel Duo core, Lenovo laptop T60p.

Let me know:
-if it stil happens after the clean reinstall
-if it ever happens again, and you remember what you just installed before the problem came back.

OK,

After much suffering it looks like the problem is between live 6.x and Melodyne Studio. I have/had the latest version installed I believe it is 3.1.2. Live works well with the the Melodyne plug-in installed but as soon as the full version of the Melodyne Studio application is installed ReWire no longer functions properly between Live and Reason. Did you originally have Melodyne on your PC? Any chance of you guys working this one out? there are times when I prefer the full version to the plug-in. Let me know what you guys find on your end.

Any news on this issue. I didn't see it addressed in 6.0.7 and I can't install Melodyne until it's resolved. I am going to bug Celemony about this as well.

We are working on it, but it seems there is some difficulty identifying what is going wrong with the Live-Reason-Melodyne combination.

We are in contact with Celemony about it.

I'm having the same issue on macbook(coreduo) but I don't use Melodyne.
Rewire devices I use are Reason and Novation Remote Automap and waves TuneLT.
When I remove Automap rewire engine,Reason works fine.
This is in "Library/Application Support/Proppellerhead Software/Rewire"(OSX)
Please try to remove the one with the problem.
