I was almost sold for the RME firewire 400.
But someone suggested the Motu Ultralite, would be great for almost half the price of the rme.
Does anyone had any good/bad experiences with the MOTU ultralite???
I am on Imac g5.
Is the motu made in china??? (i am sorry i don't trust anymore chinese products) after my horrible experiences with m-aduios projectmix and 400.
thanks. i will appreciate the feedback

i'm loving my ultralight...
absolutely no problems so far, lots of ins/outs (well by my standards)
RME is a whole lot more money, and sure if you are a professional its going to pay itself off, but the Motu will satisfy most peoples needs for a quality compact interface

Because, i am not a pro, i am not sure if the rme is going to be paid off. but, i would spend an extra amount of money, in order to save my safe from the hassle of all kinds of problems. i had it with the m-audio shitze.
If it is made in china, i wont buy anything else, ever.
thanks

I love mine. I have no idea, nor do I care, if it was made in China. Great sound, good money.

But don't blame me for disliking chinese crap,
Have you ever tried any m-audio interface??? if you do, you will be just like me.

I have a total of 0 complaints with my Ultralite, and I've been using it every day for about 6 months now. The latenncy is quite low, and it's sexy.

Your problem lies not with Chinese manufacturing plants, but with M-Audio.

THANK YOU guys, for all your responses.
I been reading all around the internet by now, i think the motu is a very good option. since the rme 400 is 1 grand.
You are right, my problem is with m-audio.
I would not advise anybody in this universe to buy one of their products.
Now i read that ableton is not being distributed by m-audio no more, i felt relief. It was quite funny that the makers of the "projectmix" came on bundle with live 5. and together would be horrible,
anyway. thanks.
UltraLite is made in USA

Hey, MOTU manufactures all their gear in the USA. It's more expensive, but it's true. They make up for the cost with innovation and smart design.
My UltraLite is rock solid, and it sounds great. I'm not a "pro", but i have good enough ears. Maybe you could do a tiny bit better with a lot more investment, but it's nothing anyone can hear who isn't way beyond the critical level of most humans...

Ive has 2 RME Multifaces and more recently a FF400. I had PROBLEMS with the FF400 and switched to the Ultralite and Im VERY happy with its performance. The ability to run it at low latency is slightly BETTER than I was getting with the FF400.
Im a devout user of RME products but was personally disappointed with the FF400.
