hi guys, current setup is as follows: macbook pro 2.16 2gig Ram, ableton live 6.03, access virus ti polar synth, edirol fa 66 interface...

i am trying to use the virus as a plug in (have tried both AU and VST) and despite the fact that i can drag it into my midi track, it tells me that virus control does not receive any sound and that there is no connection via usb (even though i have tried connecting it using all the usb ports on macbook pro!)

im very frustrated because i dont have midi in/out on my computer so as most people i connect it using usb cable into spare usb port on laptop... although i have uploaded the latest software/firmware for my virus, the plugin software does not receive any audio!!!

does someone have any idea how to help me?

thanks,
sparco.

Did the Virus Control installer work ok? Are you plugging it into the exact same USB port each time? Try reinstalling the Virus Control plug in, amd make sure you're using the latest version as well.

Check that you have only one instance of the plugin inserted. It's easy to accidentally save a template with the plugin already inserted so when you attempt to insert another it causes a problem.

I'm on Macbook Pro and can change USB port without problems. I think the problem with using different USB ports from the installation port is a PC issue.

When you say that Virus Control "does not receive any sound", do you mean that it is not accepting MIDI notes and making noise, or that the VC plugin itself throws an error message during startup? If so, which one of the boxes is marked with a red 'X'?

Per Access, both Mac and PC users are supposed to always use the same USB port. Cool that it seems to work on your's, but not recommended.

The USB port switching thing is only a Windows issue... it has to do with the way that windows registers devices.

Anyways, I don't think the port is the issue here... I would be interested in seeing a screenshot of what happens when virus control is opened.

Ok guys, i reinstalled the latest software package and it re-updated the firmware of my TI and now when i open live and doubleclick the virus VST it opens up with no problem... i guess the issue, for whatever reason, is fixed for now...

sqook coming back to you, i meant the virus control plugin itself would open but send out an error message with the top 3 choices all marked X so ie. no audio, no midi and no usb... looks like reinstalling resolved the issue... although now when i play notes on my virus i cannot hear it from the speakers despite the fact that live recognizes midi inputs every time i press the keyboard.. furthermore, i notice that when changing the bpm tempo in live, the TI bpm syncs also which i guess means there is communication between them.

dont know why no sound coming out... do i need to also hook up virus with audio interface? ie, go from outputs 1+2 on the TI to my edirol interface inputs AND have it plugged in to the computer via usb?

guys thank you so much for your support... im getting there :D :D :D

Do you have the TI outputs selected in Live's preferences? Is the volume knob on the TI all the way down?

It might be a routing problem within live. Try opening up the tutorial song located in:

/Library/Documentation/Access Music/Virus TI/Tutorials/Ableton Live

And see if that plays.
