I wish I knew how to tell a "good" compressor from a "bad" one. I've been throwing around the the idea of buying some high-quality software plugins. Anyone have any feedback on the cheap Waves, or this PSP stuff?

Btw, this version SUCKS! It's not even close to running the same way as the other vw......

and it's buggy. So far i've found a list of bugs (reported)

meters don't work. They are fixed at about the "red" mark. They move a little, but it's definatly not right.

allot of crackling/poping when moving the knobs and such.....don't remember that one.

I'm not getting that "vibe" so far........I just switched to my pc and checked basically the same setup (live/bfd stereo/vw.....set to taste) which usually brings drums up front and center without allot of tweaking......doesn't work the same way on macintel....which means something is just too different right now.

I don't recommend it without trying the 14 day demo first......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks eyeknow, I was thinking waiting until it had been out a while would be a smart move. PSP are another great plug in developer, that release software a little too early.
Plus for the $49 upgrade I could get anything by Audio Damage, most of Numerology, or Bidule.

I'm not having that experience eyeknow... Sounds great over here and FAT mode is really creamy!!!

yeah no problems for me either. FAT mode is nice, but pretty cpu intensive (using a fairly slow ppc though)

I guess I just assumed this was related to macintels since the vw has always been available for other formats.

Maybe it's just my machine........

Maybe it is an intel mac thing. Kenn Micheal didn't say what machine he's on and slow riot is using PPC mac.

Anyone tried it on both? Gonna check the demo, but not right away (because you only get two weeks)...

I've heard VW sounds very similar to the compression/drive in Addictive Drums. If so, I'm gonna have to think about weather my credit card can handle it. I just love the AD tape compression/drive.

before I say this (and be redundant from earlier in this thread) I want to say that other than NI crap, VW was something I waited ANXIOUSLY for my macintel.

I want to say that compared to my VW on my pc (1.65??? I think) this version is not even close. Not in any way.......I takes up mo' cpu, doesn't work as well (gui wise) and doesn't have that instant "vibe" VW does on the pc.

hate me or not, I really do try hard to give the most accurate opinion I can....

AND, again.....I was thinking this is for macintel people......christ.....there was NOTHING wrong with vw's previous version!
