system setup for live and audio

Hi guys, do anyone knows how to setup the system properly to get the best results with live?
i run live 3 on a 1,25 mac laptop on system 10.2.8. with a emi2/6 emagic interface and seems like it can do better, i have strange sounds at the start of long loop( i.e. 8 bars of drums recorded with 8 mike on 8 different traks)
on my previus titanium 550 on os 9.2 i disabled all the extensions that i didn't need, is there a way on 10 also?
