Hi everybody,

I still have some bugs as I use Live 3 , and I maybe intend to buy a Mac.

So this is my question. As I read the Live 3 Demo Session on my PC (Athlon 2400, 512 RAm), the cpu gets busy on 10-14 %. How powerfull should be a Mac cpu in order to get busy the same way with the same session? What kind of Mac is enough to make music with Liven and one or two other professional programs at the same time without that there are bugs? I've heard that a G4 is better than a G3 for making music Is it true? Is there just a power difference between both? Or is there a compatibility problem with music programs?

G4 Powerbook 1 ghz + should be good with at least 640ram

buy an older G4 desktop for cheap and upgrade it. that's my advice... i turned my old g4/400MHz PowerMac into a 1.2GHz g4 with 1GB RAM and it's great-- cost me less than 550$ US. if you want to buy something new, i'd wait until January or february when new macs are expected. i'm hoping for dual g5 tower in the middle price range.

always get a g4 (or a g5) over a g3 machine if you can. OS X likes the G4 much better, and eventually Live is supposed to offer some sort of acceleration for the g4, i believe, and so do many applications on the market. the g4 is basically a g3 with more tricks that developers can take advantage of.. there is no real compatibility issue to speak of.

no one will guarantee a bug-free mac experience. but there ae lots of people using Live on macs and rewiring it to other apps, etc.. i don't see why you should have a bad time with it. there is nothing to worry about as far as i am concerned.
