Pops using when monitering in Live 6

Hi, firstly sorry if you have seen most of these points in 100's of other threads! I just wanted to be as specific as possible!
Basically I run a laptop live which has a couple of wav files running through ableton Live 6.0.1.
There are also around 5 tracks that are used for monitering vocals (so that seperate effects can be applied).
These are selected and muted between tracks. There will always be 2 tracks being monitered at once so both microphones can be heard.
It runs well apart from two problems:
1. During a recent live performance the sound coming out of the laptop kept cutting out for about half a second, it appeared to be skipping. This doesn't happen at home.
One thought was that the sub woofer was too loud and was causing the hard drive to skip or something similar. I placed some padding under the laptop but it was pretty makeshift so the problem remained. Another thought was that it had something to do with the DI.
2. I get occasional popping on the vocal channels when running the track. I am running the interface at 128 (which may seem a little optimistic) but I need it that low to avoid latency on the vocals. The popping occurs about twice a minute and seems fairly random. There doesn't seem to be any crackling or noise on the channel. The CPU is running at around 10% in Ableton.
The 2 microphones are run into an m-audio fast track pro interface and the laptop has a dual amd turion 1.6 ghz processer with 1 gig of ram.
Any feedback would be great!
Thanks!
