HEy all

I have been using eq8 instead of eq3 to try and get some decent volume gradients happening for mixing music. Has anyone successfully managed to use eq8 to do this? I can do it to a level higher than eq3, however I still do not belive it is perfect.

Any suggesting would be appreciated!

wooiiiii something .. maybe you should simply try another eq plugin instead of eq8 .. personally i don't like the eq to cut to much, i use URS N-series EQ for Djing, cutting -18 db at most ..

try out a couple of demos of other eq plugins in other words ..

Is there any other option that is cheaper? Say in the $50 range?

If you want a deeper cut, try stacking 2 or three of the nodes on top of each other at the same frequency, then set them all to low or high pass, whichever you need. You will need to adjust the Q (resonance) of each node to get it flat. Then, you can either stick it in a rack and map all three nodes to the same midi controller, or do it without the rack. Hope that helps a little?

If that doesn't work, you can try doing something similar to that, but place a few eqs in parallel. Remember, now that we can map multiple things to one knob, you can achieve many more effects, etc.....

Hey Mick,

I use an EQ8 set up but maybe try www.kvraudio.com as it's a pretty good resource for both free and commercial plugins. Have a search through the database and you might find something that works for you there.

Off topic, you still jumping and running the BASE board? I retired a few years ago after a back injury and am not up to date with the scene anymore. Anyway, hope you're all good.

drop an EQ8 into a track, disable all but the lowest and highest 'nodes', set a knob to each. if you need deeper cuts use two of them at the same time. EQ8 is great, no need to buy something more unless you're a producer and the tone is truly screwing you up, I dout neither you nor myself are there (yet) with EQ8.

Ok since my origional post i have developed an eq8 template that basically uses 3 different nodes for each frequency range, (low, mid, high). It then sits in an effect rack, with set macro's for each node assigned (different limits etc) Impossible to explain on here, but if someone else has doen it they will know exactly what I mean.

While i am happy with my low and high cuts, the mid range just doesn't work well, so i am forced to use a combination of eq8 and eq3.

Tried it playing the other night, and its definatly superior to eq3. I just try and stay away from lowering my mid ranges until i figure out a solution.

Might have a look at these plug-ins. Cheers.
