option dragging to browser, maybe not working correctly?

i feel like i had solved this problem before, but either can't remember how or have now encountered a bug:
i want to copy a clip from my current set into a folder containing loops for use in other sets. when i drag the clip it just makes an .alc file whether i drag it straight, or option drag... i would assume that option dragging would copy the audio file as well (the icon even changes to include a plus sign), but no go. i've rtfm but it sort of skims over this stuff.
fyi: i need to do this so that if in the future i decide to trash the set, i still have the loop stashed somewhere, audio file and all.

I think I understand how this would function with the new file management system, but I don't think you'd like the answer.

Make sure that your "save for later" folder is a _project_ folder.

Then you should be able to drag clips in there and not have it create more project folder heirarchies.

You'll need to actually collect the sample itself over by choosing 'manage project' and then 'yes' to importing external samples. finally 'collect and save' at the bottom.

You could probably do that at the end of each day or just do it before you were going to do some housecleaning and deleting of sets.

There is also the 'show in explorer' command in the context menu, so you might be able to use that as a way to do this in a more drag-n-drop style, but the problem is that if the clip is still sitting in the current set, windows won't let you copy it. Don't know how this functions on Mac.

yeah, i'm 99% positive that this was easily done in v5 (option dragging to save the audio file)...in 6 you can even contextual menu click the clip in the browser for a "manage file" option which opens up that window to the right, but even then its only for the currently open project, not the clip you clicked on...definitely i mistake in the interface on that one. the fact that dragging and option-dragging do the exact same thing makes me think its a bug. well, maybe not a bug but a feature that was accidentally left out.
