switching to Macbook.. whats the Student discount in the UK?

Hoping to switch to a Macbook Pro for Live use and was wondering if the student discount is worth having.
The reason i ask is that the missus is the student and as such would be buying the thing but i'd have to risk almost certain death when she finds out how much they are.
"what do you need another twiddly knob thing for? We need new windows for the house"
In my defence, she can wear a coat in the house if she's cold. But what do i do if i want to run another reverb
So, what is the discount... is is worth the hassle from the missus!?
Cheers

If you are a uni student and log on to the higher education store through your college's server you get the best discount, around 15% I think plus a three year warranty and you get an option for cheap Applecare. Think Ram upgrades etc are cheaper as well.
I got a Macbook 2ghz Core 2 Duo with an 80 gig HD and 2 Gigs of RAM for £870

I just logged on from home, put the name of my nearest college and was given the price of £826.03

You can get more discount if you log on via your institution network. Or just phone them up.

Using the campus higher edu pricing my black macbook (stock) was £858 including the 3 year warranty (full price in store 1200 quid for macbook+applecare). Bargain.
The 58 quid for "applecare" is for the uplift (shipping it around etc). I'd rather take it to an applestore anyway.
