I haven't had any probs on a PC, there is an option.txt file where you can add a command that gives you better latency with the 2/6 with live also...

it works.
i'm using macos panther, g3 ibook 900, live3. sometimes i get strange artifacts and other minor problems. i'm still happy with it overall.

Can you expand on that? Where is the option.txt file? What's the command?
Thanks

i just sold my 2-6 cuz its driver performance was shite. if you want to use it to preview clips with the headphone out, you can forget about it. i'm on a pc, getting an Echo Indigo...

I really like the 2|6. Works great for me with Live. Was great under OS 9 and is just as good under OS X. If you are on a Windows machine I'd look into it a bit further. I've heard issues, but they are supposed to be fixable.

yep, with the options.txt you can get the latency way down - but only if live is on it's own (which it usually ends up these days!) - meaning no rewire slaves etc. I'm also using the waves plugs for mastering but they don't 'officially' support live yet, but i can just use them in tracktion after wards - basically if i use live on it's own i get better latency than pretty much any other app on my machine, but as soon as i start using anything else i have to up the latency. But live for me seems to go in stages - up the latency for writing tunes or preparing sets - using rewire etc, then when playing sets kill all else and lower the latency to use live alone.

i had been using the 2/6 for about 4 months, there was always a slight crackle to it when you were using channels 3-4 for previewing, but all of a sudden the crackling got really bad...i mean really bad, to the point you could not hear the samples anymore, just shit!
so...i went out and bought the m-audio firewire 410 and i am extremely happy with it...the much increased bandwidth makes previewing a snap, i think the sound is generally better and there are a hell of alot more option, including built in midi-in-out, balanced inputs, 1/4" connections vs the rca, spdif and...it just looks and feels much more solid than the 2/6.
spend a little more and get the 410.

I'm quite happy with mine. I've been using it both in Mac OS 9.2 and 10.2 and the only complaint is the lack of a hub or a MIDI interface (I also use Logic and Cubase which need a USB dongle). I'm on a PowerBook G4 (2 USB ports) so... a USB hub will solve this problem though. I've had no latency problems what so ever. I use Live synced to my MPC2000XL and never had any latency issues. The sound is good enough and it looks smart too.

it does seem that Mac users have a better overall experience with it than the pc community.
