I recently switched from Logic pro I am still figuring it all out. I am having some difficulty running it without it "slowing" down as I add more tracks (I am doing live recordings, one track after another...looping). Once I reach 5-6 tracks, the CPU usage jumps way and and she starts chuggin.

I'm currently running my gear on a Mac I book g4 with 512 ram. I set my processor speed at it's highest aswell.

I've played with the buffer size and as I increase it, It definatly runs smoother however, as the buffer increases, so does the latency. This makes recording other layers very difficult.

Ram increase?

hey that would be my thought....are you running full WAV songs or clips etcc?

Are you using loads of plug ins on those live loops?

If so the best way is to set up your parameters and then freeze the tracks one by one as you build.

This drastically reduces the cpu loading. I layer loads of guitars and stuff in loops and I find you can eliminate real CPU pressure with the freeze function particularly if you're using multi instances of something like guitar rig 2 with compression etc.

Deep freeze those mothers and watch the cpu drain drop!

(don't worry too much about your ram, I find 512 on my macbook is fine for running 16 tracks plus)

Sneaky...... Yea, I've always frozen tracks in Logic and never even thought of doing that.

I record them all as .aiff, 24 res, high quality and create my own loops from my triton. They are large files but I'm going to try the freeze out.
