Aaaaah!

My als file is corrupt and since all the midi clips are now embedded in the als file - I have nothing left!

Is there any way to salvage the midi components from this corrupt file?

Please help!

I think your only hope would be to try to email the file to Ableton support and see if they can salvage anything from it.

I had this message a week ago on someones machine and I did salvage the project.

- Find Preferences.cfg, delete it

- Rename your VST folder to something else, or move the .DLL files into a temporary directory

- Restart Live

- Try and open your project

These are the first two things to try, the CFG file is often corrupted and starting with clean preferences often fixes it.

Also, temporarily taking your VSTs out of the equation temporarily is a good idea because these are often involved in the problem in one way or another

I tried the first part of your suggestion, but it just asked to install the library again. I chose not to do this, so I didn't really test your solution.

However, in searching for the preferences.cfg file I stumbled upon the folder below, which had a backup from when the crash ocurred. So I just copied it over my corrupt als file and.... voila!

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Ableton\Live 6.0.1\Preferences\Crash

i have the same problem but none of these things worked. In my 'crashes' folder there is a live set but not the right one. does anyone have further suggestions. i am truly begging here.

Hello - hope someone still is listening to this post. I had the same problem, but cannot find the preferences.cfg file to delete it. Where would this be located? I found a project.cfg but that was all...

Try the crash folder first peeps - it doesn't require any deletion of cfg files etc - as simple as opening a new als file Worked for me - I had to go back 1 'crash' in time but good enough! I crash enough for it to be usable!!
