Mackie Emulation with FCB1010

I read a tantilizing post by Machinate about using Mackie Control midi mapping in LIVE with just about any controller that lets you send note values.

I'm trying to set up my FCB1010 footcontroller (isnt everybody) to work using Mackie emulation. Can someone help me out with some missing info?

As I understand it, I need to select the Mackie Control in the Pref section, and set the midi in/out. Done.

I also programmed the FCB1010 to the Mackie controls that were in Machinates earlier post- the track arm for several tracks. These work OK.

But his suggested setup includes footswitches programmed for :
Lauch Clip
Launch Scene
Up
Down
Left
Right

I don't have the Mackie note numbers for these, so they are not working.

Anyone know what the Mackie notes are for these?

I read Bandbajao's post called Mackie Control, but the note numbers don't seem to work.

Any Mackie Control emulators help me out here?

I was doing the exact same thing as you the other day, and got the right midi note numbers, but can't acess them at the moment.

You could use this: http://www.harmony-central.com/MIDI/Doc/table2.html

Be aware that the post you may have read and got note numbers from may have been for a piece of Korg hardware (which for some reason has to be set an octave up).

Just reference that website above, and if it doesn't work try adding or subtracting 12 (octave).

I think you also have to set the MIDI channel to 10 on the foot pedal for MackieControl emulation to work.

That Fixed it! But one more question..

Thanks for taking time. That was just the right info. I got the other Mackie commands working.

On the Mackie controller there is a button in the middle of the arrow keys called the Zoom Key. It either triggers or stops a scene when pushed. Do you happen to know what the note number for this one is?

There is another key called the Scrub key that moves between the clip grid to the clip view panel. Any idea what note value that key is?

Is there any full guide to all the Mackie notes sent?

Anyway, you got me rolling. Now to start playing around with looping to see what pedal config works best for me.

Thanks again!

Now I'll rule the universe. Mwaaaa hhaaaa haaaa .

Well. At least I'll be able to make my FCB1010 do what I think I want it to.

Fatrabbit, THANK YOU!

Hey, do you know if you can run TWO emulations at the same time? I think I"ll try to run some transport controls on my FCB1010, but run some track faders and such on my Keystation 88. If that works, I'll be astounded. Have you tried anything similar?

Thanks again!

I haven't tried it yet, but was thinking of doing it. I use my padKONTROL as MackieControl at the moment, but in my overall live rig wanted the same functions on a scene on my FCB1010 as a kind of secondary point from which to control Live hands free. Hopefully it is possible - without any conflicts - you can set 6 auto-control maps in MIDI/Prefs after all!

Is that the M-Audio Keystation 88? A mate of mine has one now and I had a go today... was pretty immense! Not practical for gigging though methinks. :)

I have configured in Live6 my Behringer BCR2k in MCU-mode and as BCR on the same MIDI-port and both controller protocols are also mapped to the same preset on the BCR (in the preferences for the controllers, both are selected and the same MIDI-port is used for both of them). Yes, it's possible, but you have to try, if there are MIDI-conflicts.

Example of a conflict:
The Note C1 in the Mackie Protocol triggers functionality X in Live and you want to use it with your HW-controller.
And the same Note triggers in the other protocol of your HWC another functionality Y.
So if you move the knob on your HWC, which is associated to Note C1 what will happen?
Live receives C1 on this port, looks in the controller list what controller-protocol is associated to that port where it received the C1 and sees, that the Mackie-protocol is used: is looks in the list and finds functionality X for the received note C1 and because another protocol is active on the same MIDI-port (the one from your HWC), it checks if C1 triggers a functionality for the second protocol, too and it finds functionality Y. So both func. X and Y are triggered. Conflict.

Solution in the case of a conflict:
Choose a different MIDI-controller from the list, which doesn't use the same MIDI-data as the controller data you use from the Mackie-protocol.
