well I've never tested it, but if you're planning on using an external soundcard you outta luck I think. I dont believe Parallels is USB/Firewire compatible yet. I may be wrong though. I tried using a Digi002 in parallels and didnt have any luck.

Nope, you're stuck using the default windows drivers in Parallels too. Not all bad though, I run Wavelab under Parallels just fine and it works flawlessly. Not sure how something like Live would run though.

Why would one do this, with versions for both platforms available? How much is a cross-grade?

I've used Live under Parallels with a Macbook and Live 6 and a FW410 and it worked flawlessly.
Ok the CPU hit is quite big from running it on a virtual machine, and you cant allocate it that much RAM (think I got stuck with 256MB)... but it worked fine with my Firewire soundcard... I don't think I even installed the drivers on windows it just picked them up from OSX (but don't quote me on that....).
I just needed to edit some tracks my studio partner had done with PC only plugins, once id got them how I wanted I froze them then carried on working in OS X.

I suspect that double-clicking is involved.

I've also run it in parallels, but more as a little experiment than to do any actual work. It does indeed run ok, but will suffer from sound dropouts occaisionally. It also does work your system a bit harder than running it natively, but that's really to be expected...

This is what I have considered doing, the only thing I want to know is- will I be able to play my midi controller in a future update? Parallels would only work partially for me if I couldn't control those soft synths with a physical controller.
This has to be in an update... Apparently it wont' work in bootcamp...
This is all USB stuff...
