no need to add an actual tool, but how about ALT+Click-n-Drag to make smooth lines for velocities and ramps?

don't we have that already? (for velocities)

select some notes so they go dark, in the velocity view hold alt and ctrl and then click and drag a line out over the darkened notes velocity peaks. Instant velocity ramp.

unless you mean something a little different I quite like this method.

Well, I didn't know that the line was straight if you held down those CTRL+ ALT. I'm thinking like FL Studio's midi editor - you can do a lot with just the modifier keys and clicking and dragging.

Can you confirm if the line is nice and straight? I'm at work and can't try it ATM.

its straight, dont worry

the line of the tool is the same as the 'marching ants' marquee drag tool. It just goes into a line when you do ctrl&alt. It works as you imagine it would : click and drag a line and the velocities go all wedge-like. It takes me right back to programming 1993 rising drum fills ;)

I had a little check just before I posted - I'd only used it a couple of hours earlier but I had to check!

I do hope the envelope tools get a biggish revamp for L7, stuff like curves, beziers, group move (across tracks) view multiple lanes, etc, etc.

they are a little clunky to access right now if you are checking the timing on a number of envelopes at once, my quickest method being highlighting the pulldown and using the up/down keyboard arrows to flick back and forth.

I can confirm that if the pencil is not selected, and you have selected a bunch of notes, then holding down the CTRL button only will draw lines for velocity. Very nice!

Also, in the piano roll, holding CTRL + ALT and left-clicking will move the grid up or down. Again, very nice.
