I have a MacBook with 1 gig RAM and want a DAW for mostly audio recording (guitars and vocals). I know Live is more for electronica type music, but will it work well for just multi-tracking audio? Also, I know I'll need an interface, so how is the Edirol firewire FA-66? Feefback appreciated.

Live is For everyone Just Kidding. I dont make electronica very much with Live. I use it mostly to record my drums

Go on give it a try because you're worth it.

Live can do basic, but is easy to learn other software skills like sound design and arranging/mixing.
If you literally just want to multitrack like a four track, you can use garage band. I personally don't like it and find Ableton much more logical and have less surprises with it. Ableton's good for quickly sketching out ideas and can take those ideas and turn them into a finished track. Garage band is really just for capturing ideas in a simple way. I know a lot of bands that use garage band to write their demos replacing their tape 4 tracks. it's dumb simple to use as it's dumb simple.

I'm ostensibly a 'guitarist' at heart so i say yes definitely but you need to shift the way you think about making music - if you are a linear thinker it may be a headswim initially but you will get used to it and give you a brand new way of writing.

Thanks for all the feedback! After playing with the demo a bit and going through the tutorials, it looks like it could definately work for me. So as far as an interface goes, how is the Edirol FA-66? Any better options with similar features/price?
