The plot thickens:

My specs again:
Athlon 64 X2 4200+
1 GB DDR
2 x 7200 RPM; 1 x SATA; 1 x Firewire 400 external
nVidia A8N-SLI mb Award bios
nVidia GEForce
Project:
52 tracks of straight audio. Minimal effects, mainly Live mix effects (EQ) and Camelphat (compression, eq, filter, distortion etc). 1 VST (z3TA+) playing bass.
Some clip splits on the arrange grid, but nothing radical - no huge rows of tiny little edits, mainly splits at 8 bar intervals or major song sections.
Getting mad PTHH_K-ZZ-K-KTHHHH!! sounds and juddering trying to make it thru this set - which brings along random lockups of the entire interface trying to do anything at that point.
The song is structured INTRO / VS 1 / VS 2 / BRG 1 / CH 1 / BRG 2 / CH 3 / CH4
So I had Marker Flags at each of these sections labeled exactly as above.
I noticed that PTHH_K-ZZ-K-KTHHHH!!! was happening right when the transport hit those markers. At first I thought it was because at those markers
a. I had clip splits all the way down the grid, and
b. There was new data and it was choking on this data
But on a whim I deleted the markers to see what would happen. Guess what?
Juddering practically quit. The markers were causing the horrible noisy lockups to be much, much worse.
Why?
(i like asking that question on here because thats exactly what im doing over here when stuff like this happens : "... what the f*ck is it doing now??")
