This works only if you are dance music producer and use 4x4 beats. You can use it for basses or for your overall mix, almost on anything, where you want that ducking effect.
Just put Auto Pan on your channel and use following settings:
Now just play with Amount and Shape, and you are ready!

yah, not very versatile though
i have never found a good sidechain compressor that works well with live, so i use ktrancer.dll , a free plugin that "ducks" when you send it a midi note
i must say i pretty much prefer doing it this way to traditional sidechaining (ie using audio as a trigger)

a frined gave me a copy of SV-315 Mk2 Compressor which does sidechanining in abelton.. i have figured out how to sidechain to it but i have no idea how it works

I use that trick for quick "gating" and "ducking" effects....not very versatile, but sometimes you don't need anything fancy. For sidechain-style trance pumping, I've been using regular ole clip envelopes these days, to get some subtle effects that are too detail oriented for any sidechain to do.

I use Sidekick a lot. Low in CPU, and works really well. Highly recommended.
