hi! I just want to express my desapoiment towards novation...I purchased a remote 25 a few months ago , I was using it on my pc desktop with win xp , but now i got a powerbook and tried to use the remote 25 . I downloaded the driver for osx , but the remote 25 doeswnt work , its lcd blinks nonstop . I wrote an email to novation asking for support 2 weeks ago and didnt get any response . I remember the first time I asked for suport 4 months ago when I got it and i was having problems with it.....I never got an email to help me . I also want to know why novation never came up with new templates for remote 25 , neither an editor for programing .
I'm thinking about selling remote 25 and go for edirol pcr 30 ....I know it doesnt look as nice , but I know it works and has an exelent suport .
btw...I have panther in my mac.....does remote 25 driver ready for it?

Lots of people on this forum might consider using Remote 25 to control Live, so this is useful information for prospective buyers.

Sounds like the powerbook doesn't provide enoughe power over the USB. It's the same on my notebook (PC), so I have to use batteries or PSU. If I conect it only to USB it just blinks.

I have to agree that novation support isn't very responsive. And It would be nice if they made a computer edditor for ReMote.

hey! thank you so much for the tip....I put some batterys and the remote 25 now works fine!!! .....anyway , I still think that novation has a terrible costumer support ....I should have recieved this tip from them and not from this forum....but thank you ..!!!!!

i've got the remote and it powers off of my laptop just fine along with the akai mpd16 at the same time powering off of another usb port, but i have a panasonic w2, sos did a review of the remote and found that not only laptops from apple but some desktops had trouble as well, if you subscribe to them you might want to do a search and check it out.

I've got a Remote25, and I think the actual keyboard itself is wicked, and it has very high quality construction. I have no experience with their customer support, but for those of you who are curious, here are a few things that could be better:

there are still a number of quirks in the firmware at the moment, eg. try reassigning the pitch wheel to pitch bend after you've changed it to something else - not gonna happen!

No firmware import via midi in, even though it's just a sysex file.

No software editor in this day and age?! I'm not about to use that value-wheel to name every control in every template i make!

the manual is bollocks, bad writing/proof-reading, esp. considering it comes from England! Fortunately it's mostly fairly self-explanatory.

But for all that, it's the best controller I'm aware of. For now. I'm sure the market for midi controllers of this sort is gonna keep getting bigger though.

This is all useful information. I have been playing with the demo of Live and have ordered my copy. It's obvious that midi controllers were built for software like Live. At the moment, I'm trawling this forum trying to glean as much info as I can about midi controllers. (whoever suggested that this post was off-topic should go away)

I wasn't really in the market for a Novation ReMote25 since I have less $$$ to spend but I was seriously considdering making the stretch. Now that I have heard that their support is terrible, I really don't want to risk the big bucks.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the thing once I got it all customized to my liking; it was worth spending the extra for, over some of the flimsier controllers. But have u checked out the thread about lighting controllers?

Certainly sounds like an avenue worth exploring if you're after a lot of knobs for cheap.

Interesting thread, I LOVE my ReMote 25, but you're right, the support etc is dreadful. In my case I was waiting for the mac drivers...the X driver came out but not the OS9 one which was originally promised. I know 9's a legacy OS, but to promise something then not deliver is not on. Many Live users for example still use OS9. On top of this, many of the templates are incorrectly programmed, making them next to useless...we should all get together and bombard Novation with mail to let them know they've got dissatisfied customers they should be dealing with before releasing constant hardware revisions.
Anyway, gripe over...seriously, if anyone's interested, let's cooperate and get heard

As a matter of fact, I did check out that thread, and lo and behold, there was one going on ebay for less than $150. I had about a day and a half to make up my mind but I chickened out

besides, I decided I needed a small keyboard built in.

I think I've finally made up my mind. The Edirol PCR-30 is the right price at $140 and has the features I need. I like the fact that I can print out templates like you can with the novation. I went to their website to check out their "support", and at least they have software which will allow you to backup configurations and manage mappings. Not bad for a $140 unit.
Not a bad amount of controllers and sliders either. I would have preferred a unit with those "continuous" knobs (or whatever they're called) but you can't have your cake and eat it too re pricing/features.

are you guys talking about the remote 25 midi controller or the remote 25 audio (or xtreme) with the built in audio ins/outs/kstation?

i'm particularly interested in running external instruments through fx plugins in live, in realtime.. and it looks like this thing will do that nicely, if it works. http://www.novationmusic.com/nov_route/ ... o_over.htm
