snowtires, what is your setup?
I am currently running Live with the Virus TI with absolutely no problems (and at only 128 sample buffer)

live 6.0.5 (it was doing this in all versions of live 6)
ti 2.0 (it was also doing this with the previous ti os)
m audio project mix i/o w/latest drivers & firmware
g5 quadcore 2.5 ghz with 8 gigs ram
dedicated 7200 rpm internal sata drive for audio/project files
osx 10.4.8
i think it's been narrowed down to a problem with live + ti + osx, or at least that seems to be the setup that the majority of people having problems are using. it also has a similar problem when rewiring reason into live. it just sucks because i like live, but if there was an rtas version of the ti plugin, i'm at the point now where i'm so frustrated that i'd just use pro tools for everything. i can use the virus' sequencer mode in protools and work that way, but the ti plugin makes that all so much easier. i'm not really a fan of protools, either, it's just that it doesn't have these random pops and clicks when using the virus.

man, that really stinks as you have a fairly good system there.
have you by chance tried emailing access tech support? they are pretty good at getting back to people with suggestions.
Also, perhaps try posting at the Access Virus forum
http://www.infekted.org/virus/forum.php
there may be some guys there with something close to your setup.
either way, good luck.

i'm also using a uad-1 card, but i don't know if that would cause this or not
