hi,

it would be really great to have the ram mode in the defaults preference menu...

This seems such an obvious thing really (especially for laptoppers) , I wonder if there is a reson why this hasn't been offered ?

Certainly, you are perfectly right! But RAM mode is about speeding up the response of the software. The way I'm using Live is to play live instruments and record my playing as clips (no prerecorded loops on the drive) and then I'm manipulating these clips from midi foot pedals while playing along. I simply can not stop playing to reach out for the mouse to set my clips in ram mode!

And please let us have the sample- and clip parameters midi assignable with next upgrade! ;-) (gosh, I hate that mouse....)

You could even have a little bar to show how much RAM is being used ... just like Acid !

Yeah, I'm just waiting for the price of an 80GB laptop drive to go down, then I can upgrade my drive, and put the old one into a bitty little firewire enclosure. Oh, man, you have no idea, I've been beggin' ta be able to bring my sample library with me without lugging a 3.5" drive with power cables around. *hassle!*

The 80GB drive'll probably cost me 130 quid -- ooh and then I gotta get an Novation Remote 25 Audio Extreme, arg, there's another 500 quid. Shite, an' I'm still short a pair of Tannoy monitors... hahaha I can't stop buying shit! :P
