Correct me if I am wrong but punch in markers are supposed to define the length and location of a recorded chunk of audio. I am having trouble.

In arrangment view i set punch in at 3.1 and punch out at 4.1 i then arm the track and begin recording at 1.1 expecting it to begin and end the recorded clip at the said punch in punch out points.

Visually it appears that the clip is recorded within the in/out points but when I look at the entire clip that i recorded, it actually began recording at 1.1 and beyond the punch out point.

Am I missing something? Do i have to manually crop the sample? If thats the case, the logic behind this method has got me baffled.

did you enable the punch in markers at the top?

cause ive just tested it and it works fine with me

absolutely. the ones on the left and right of the loop button.

set to record from 3.1 to 4.1

arm to record on main transport and on audio track. loop not set; i want it to play from the begining of the song, record through the in out points and then keep playing.

begin song at 1.1

recorded segement apears between in out points but then if you drag the beggining of the recorded segment on either side you see that it recorded everything that played before the in and after the out points.

I have noticed this as well. If you set the punch in for 4 bars, say at 12-16, but you start the arrangement at bar 8 with the record button on, you get 4 blank bars of MIDI!!!!

Then you have to cut that out, blah, blah, blah. It is a little annoying to say the least. I mean, yeah, if you play notes, they won't record, but there is all this empty space you have to deal with.

After further investigation, this is an absolutely f#$%ed up feature. It doesn't at all do what it is suppose to do. IE, give you a clean cropped clip.

How did this get through, I mean, I was a beta tester, and I think I may have mentioned somthing about this, but now that I look at it, this isn't a punch in/out feature at all, but just highlights that region of the clip.

I can't really call this a bug, but a mis-implemented feature.
