Hi

Does anyone have any ideas how to get that crunchy.....gritty, glitchy sound that is used on so many of the new electro tracks that are kicking about?

Sometimes i cant decide if its an actual percussion sample thats got an effect like redux or saturation over it....or if its a synth sound of some sort.........

been trying to perfect it for ages but cant seem to get near as close as i want to..........

Check out this guy....in perticular his pluton track for example

Is there any tips how get your percussion or sounds to stick out like that (its so in your face and up front),, and sound glitchy...even the synths there (at around 2:30mins) seem to have some effect over them.....

Im such a big fan of this guy and id love to learn how to recreate the effects he uses...

What would you guys do to recreate this stuff??

:)

In order to have the things be "in your face", compress them. For best results use flavored compressors that saturate and emulate analog...

The glitchiness will be best achieved by resampling bits of your own percussion track creatively and then working on it in Simpler (or Sampler, which is a powerhouse for totally unexplored glitchy stuff).

Cheers!
