Right now I have the demo version of live 3.0 and am about to buy it I just want to know something first. I have an imac G3 and an M-audio adiophile 2496 device hooked up to it. I just want to record multiple tracks with my guitar. When I listen to live's demo song i can hear it through my headphones whick are plugged into the audiophile device. I can also hear the metronome. I've gone into the preferences menu and selected the device for input and output. Why can't I hear my guitar (which is plugged directly into the back of the device) or record my guitar.

Please help I have the program being shipped to my locale music shop. I need to know if it works before I shell out $400.00 :(

make sure you record enable the track. (rtfm)
make sure you're monitoring through live. (rtfm)
make sure you've selected the correct input. (rtfm)
make sure the volume knob on your guitar is right. (read the... err... y'know)
and be advised that the sound you'll get from plugging your guitar into a line-in is... crap.

(rtfm means 'look at the documentation' in a polite manner... at least that's what I mean. don't mean to come across as overtly rude, soz.)

Well, save yourself some energy and don't bother doing it then. If you weren't meaning to be "overtly rude" then the drama queen in you must have taken over.
